MDF

Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is produced by breaking down wood into fibers, adding synthetic resin, and hot-pressing the mixture. It features a completely uniform structure—free of granules, delamination, or visible wood grain—with a typical density of 650–800 kg/m³ (higher-density versions are known as HDF and are commonly used as substrates for laminate flooring).

Unsuitable Applications

Cabinetry in humid environments; load-bearing structural components; flat-pack furniture requiring high screw-holding strength.

Standard thicknesses: Full range from 3 mm to 25 mm; thin boards (3 mm/5 mm) are often used as back panels

Variants: Moisture-resistant MDF (green core), fire-retardant MDF, HDF (high density, used for flooring substrates)
